Daily Bread
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink....Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least of my brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25
Daily Bread is an Outreach Committee at St. Mark the Evangelist that deals directly with several charitable organizations in the Norman area. Our chief focus is the Food Pantry at East Main Place. Requested food items and milk are delivered weekly to the pantry through donations made by parishioners. In addition to our weekly deliveries, our committee sponsors a large holiday food drive that helps fill Thanksgiving and Christmas food basket requests. We also sponsor an Advent Tree that benefits Catholic Charities, Birth Choice, East Main Place, and the Women's Shelter in Norman. We welcome new members and invite you to join us. Our meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month except during the summer. Please contact Mary Bojarski at 329-0086 with any questions or comments.
News
The Daily Bread Ministry provides an opportunity to feed the hungry in our community. You are invited to bring non-perishable groceries, each week and place them in the grocery cart (in the coat closet, just off the narthex). A list of most needed items is listed in the bulletin.
The ministry will be very busy this year. State and Federal Funding continues to decrease as the need continues to increase.
Currently, we are delivering parishioner's generous grocery donations to "Action". This parish is their largest private source of grocery donations. The "Milk Money" fund provides them with 10 gallons, or more, of milk each week. "Milk Money" donation envelopes can be found on the bookcase, in the narthex.
Please, remember the need to continue our weekly efforts in support of the food pantry which faces a critical situation, in the colder weather months. The summer months also present the challenge of children not being able to receive a nutritional breakfast and lunch from their schools.
Thank You, for you support.
